Opening of the Croft - Emergency Accomodation for the Homeless

A good news day with the opening of the Croft, which will provide emergency accommodation to the homeless and vulnerable in our community.

Thanks to Bethan and Chauncy of Cotswold District Council (pictured with Steve and Graham) for all their efforts behind the scenes in making this day happen. To our supporters for enabling us to put together wash kits to make everyone especially any children feel special upon their arrival, we couldn't do this without you.

A Personal Message from Graham

For five years, Russell was well known to ourselves at Cirencester Signpost. Throughout that time he made a big impression on others as can be seen by the outpouring of messages and flowers left in his memory. We reflected on his time with us at our Good Neighbour meal the day after the sad news and one of our friends brought in a photograph to reflect back on happier times.

What has truly inspired me is the stories from the community. Clearly there are many within our town who are going beyond words and taking practical action to help the homeless, most of it hidden gestures of kindness. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your care and compassion.

To those hurting and coming to terms with the loss of Russell including his family and close friends, you have my thoughts and prayers and may you gain comfort from happy memories. If we learn one thing out of this tragedy, it is to commit to making the plight of the homeless one that is worthy of our greatest efforts.

First Anniversary of our Food Share Fridge and Freezer serving 750 meals

We are celebrating the first anniversary (April 2019) of our Food Share Fridge and Freezer, where in partnership with M&S in Dyer Street, surplus food that is still in date but would otherwise have been discarded is turned into hot meals for the most vulnerable in our community.

Throughout the year over 750 meals have been served at our Good Neighbour sessions which take place every Monday and Wednesday. In addition, we are pleased to announce our new partnership with Triple Two Coffee of Cricklade Street who are making available sandwiches, wraps, salads and yoghurts.

New Year Food Parcels

We were extra busy at our New Year breakfast with 75 food parcels handed out to the community. So grateful for our partnerships with local Waitrose and M&S Stores who supplied a vast number of trays of fresh vegetables and fruit.

Special thanks to Cirencester Foodbank, St. James's Place and Paternoster House for their donations. Even our furry friends were looked after.
